Tiger’s Waist is an excellent qigong exercise for both women and men, and as such can provide a great workout. These series of movements were designed to slim the waist and make it more flexible. However, the underlying purpose of this exercise is to stimulate the internal organs so as to break up fatty tissue in the abdomen, regulate the intestines, boost the lymphatic system, fortify the endocrine system, strengthen the membranes around the internal organs, and energize the libido.
One of the main reasons that the waistline expands as we age is because the functioning of the internal organs begins to slow down. When the metabolism slows, food and fat are not broken down as effectively as when we were younger. However, you can strengthen the organs in the trunk and lower abdominal area of the body by internally massaging them through the twisting and circling movements of this exercise. Thus, practicing this exercise twice daily over a three-month period will help to stimulate these organs to begin functioning more efficiently, and thus greatly slim the waist.
